Our Young Athlete 'Training System'

The system is progressive from the ground up. Starting with is it the right place for you? Progressing through the stages of readiness to enter training, then the doing the basics well stage. Once athletes can do the basics well (get into body positions, strength and control, movement skill) they progress to increasing capacity (more work, speed, strength etc.). After this comes the golden word 'sport specific'.

Many people and trainers jump right to sport specific mentality even for young athletes which misses out the stages of developing key skills to keep athletes safe and effective. This is a very brief overview and each stage is much more detailed and our system is tried and tested over many years and across many sports.

Growth and Maturation

Understanding growth and maturation is a key part of our system in working with Youth Athletes. We use 'Peak Height Velocity' assessment to inform choices of training.

Development Status Reports include (free to members):
- Chronological age (age)
- Biological age (development age of your body)
-  Age at PHV (age at 'growth spurt')
- Development status (Early, Average, or Late developer)
- Height & Weight
- Percentile stature vs normative data
- Predicted adult height
- Graphical representation of where you are in the normal growth pattern

Example of an athlete report

The training system is about the athlete and what they need. We can do an individual profile of an athlete and provide a training program based on what we find. This is individual to the needs... e.g. if we find you have tight glutes we will add glute mobility to your program, you need strength in a specific area... you'll get that in the program too.

If you chose to purchase an individual report or not we always try to ensure your program is tailored around your needs. Even an individual athlete report can be discussed regarding its content and time demands.

This is very much different to a 'class' where all attendees get the same program.

Parents are more than welcome to stay and watch. The only rule we have is that they encourage and contribute to the positive 'can do' environment.
